Assessment/Selection and Process

TAP recruits for the administrative support positions based on operational needs.  The assessment/selection process includes:

  • A review of a completed County application,

  • An oral interview, and,
  • Verifying employment references, medical examination, and fingerprinting.

Work Assignments

TAP work assignments vary in duration, from 1-day up to 18-months.

  • An employee’s administrative skills, work experience, and availability to work are the factors used when assigning new job orders to employees.
  • Continuous employment is not guaranteed.  Therefore, employees should  prepare for the possibility of gaps between work assignments.

Working Hours

Working hours are determined by the position in the assignment and each assignment is either temporary full-time or “services-as-needed”.

Note: Although most positions work a day shift, some assignments require working evenings, weekends, and overtime.

The TAP Program allowed me to extend my assignment with my department and step into various roles, including leadership roles. I became an integral part of the day-to-day operations, soon becoming a permanent team member and now a manager.

Noe Lucio – Elections Division Manager

The TAP Program was pivotal in kickstarting my career with the County and enabled me to learn how each department, each unit and each employee can contribute to our community. I am grateful to be a part of a team that does so much for the public and consistently emphasizes equity, fairness, and diversity.

Daniela De Sousa – Human Resources Supervisor

After a short retirement, I re-entered the workforce full-time through the TAP Program. It was an excellent option for me because of the many departments in which I could work and grow. The TAP Case Managers took genuine interest in me a jobseeker. I have valued working with diverse groups in Alameda County and helping serve my community.
